Re: Rubys Fontana Records

Yes Ballyshannon is a lovely song. Also Boys from the County Mayo is a favourite of mine. The only criticism I have of the album "This is Ireland" is that the accompaniment is a bit bassy, in that the base seems too prominent. Maybe it is just me. Bridie Gallagher, "The girl from Donegal" did an alb...

Hi friends

Has anybody else noticed the audio clip of Ruby singing "This is my song" on youtube? This has only been uploaded fairly recently. The quality is good.

Re: The Humour Is on Me Now

Me again friends taking over, and you are making me hungry. Champ is a mainly northern dish and in the border counties like Monaghan. In the south and west it is called Colcannon. It's mashed potatoes and spring onions and butter and it's very nice. Some people mash in cabbage too. The stinging nett...

Re: The Humour Is on Me Now

Hi Bernie, on the subject of spuds, the pronunciation of the gaelic word for mashed potatoes is "Bruisey". This is mashed potatoes with butter and milk. In county Mayo and the west of Ireland it is sometimes called "Cally" but not sure of the correct spelling. Oh and it is "praties"

Re: The Humour Is on Me Now

It is quite a common phrase in rural Ireland amongst the older folk, maybe 70 and over... It basically means Ruby is doing it now and nothing is going to stop her, now that she is in the mood to marry....a bit like how it was with Ruby and Bernie.:-) You might also hear them say "Ruby is in a bad hu...

Re: Teresa Hart - Timmer's mother

Hi friends Hi Timmer, Just a quick message to say how sorry I was to hear about your mother. I like the photograph of her....She even has red hair which is quite apt! Re: Plaque Unveiling Confirmed

Hi Bernie,

Yes there should be a blue plaque, not just to say where Ruby appeared but also where she was born. Has the park actually been created yet?

I wonder if Gloria Hunniford could put a word in for us or something?

Re: MEETING WITH RUBY MURRAY

Hi Fred Welcome to our website. Please don't worry about your spelling etc as that is not important. You are so lucky to have met Ruby. It comes as no surprise she welcomed you in and talked with you. It was the kind of person she was, although as she was quite shy I wonder if it was an ordeal for h...

Re: Ruby's grave

Hello Bernie, Hello all friends I have just seen the picture of Ruby's grave and also watched the video. It is a real credit to you Bernie. Also you have a very good friend there who is willing to drive you all that distance and stay overnight. I tend quite a few family graves at this time of year a...
