Re: Ruby and the Duke,

We're just back from Dublin and loved the RTE show. I've made a fuller review here http://www.dukespecial.com/forums/showthread.php?p=62364#post62364 but thought that the Ruby setlist would be of interest 01 Ain’t That A Grand And Glorious Feeling? 02 Heartbeat 03 Happy Days and Lonely Nights 04 But...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

Getting very excited about this show - several of us are headed out from the UK to meet up with Irish fans tomorrow. Massive anticipation for the first half which will be Ruby songs and very hopeful that it will be recorded. RTERadio have released a rehearsal video already for one of Duke Special's ...

Re: 7.30 show UTV

UTV have posted a 5 min Duke segment that I think is his interview for the show and you should be able to access from anywhere. I should add that he is being asked about a range of his artistic projects and there is not much specifically about Ruby http://www.u.tv/Entertainment/Duke-Special-in-Ruby-...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

Thanks Gerald, I'm getting confused with what I post on dukespecial.com and here and realised that I overlooked posting a better review of Ruby and the Duke in the Herald.ie "Duke’s fond tribute to a singing gem" - couldn't put it better myself. http://tinyurl.com/RubyHerald There were some unfortun...

Re: Song Lyrics

Thanks for uploading these for me jk :) I was so taken with the Anthology CD set that I wanted to compile lyrics for all 100 songs and put then together in this Word document. For good measure I added a few extra songs from vinyl albums I've bought. Needless to say my proof checking can't be 100% an...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

I've posted this assessment of "Ruby and the Duke" from Radio Ulster's Stuart Baille on dukespecial.com and here - it's short so I've put it here in full http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/stuartbailie/ "I enjoyed the Ruby Murray documentary on Tuesday night with Duke Special. The RTE production didn't sens...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

I'd like to second Gerald's welcome Lorraine as someone who also discovered Ruby's unique musical talent through the "Ruby and the Duke" project and it's very gratifying to see well over a thousand views of this thread! I'd say most people who saw the show on RTE were left wanting to know more about...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

I enjoyed the content of program but even as a newbie (but one who has done a little background reading) agree that the program left you wanting to know more and left out several key figures including her very good friend Marie Cunningham. I would also have liked to have heard from some of Ruby's mo...

Re: Ruby and the Duke

I'm not sure if this is naughty, but if you are IT savvie and can't bear to wait, you can use a "http proxy" setting in your web browser that allows you to watch the show on the RTE "watch again" site One of the Duke boardies posted this: "I've found an Irish proxy server that seems to work. I tried...

Re: Ruby and the Duke, Cork Opera House

For those that cannot make the Ruby tribute show with the RTE orchestra in Dublin on Wed 2nd Feb the show is also been performed at the lovely Cork Opera house on Sunday 6th Feb http://www.corkoperahouse.ie/concerts.php#duke There is also a Cork thread on Duke's website that may be useful http://www...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

Caught a little of the show on the internet and have to give full credit to Bernie who interviewed extremely well.
We were captivated - thanks Bernie :)

This is the first review I've seen of "Ruby and the Duke" so far in the Herald.ie

Re: Ruby and the Duke, RTE player on PC?

We don't have Sky and have asked friends of ours who have if they can get RTE one. It seems that Sky 161 works for RTE if you have an Irish or European Sky card but not a general UK subscription :( Even if you can "see" the RTE channel, the signal is encrypted. You can buy an Irish Sky card in the U...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

That's wonderful news Bernie - we don't have Sky but I'm hoping we can find friends that do and make a little party of the occasion. Even better if one of the UK BBC/ITV channels pick it - they should do - they broadcast far less worthy material to fill up airtime! I'm very keen to see Duke and Mary...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

It's a shame that yourself and Gerald will not be able to make the Ruby and the Duke show in Dublin on Feb 2nd but also very understandable to get away from this dreadful weather! I should note that the Belfast show Feb 12th is not specifically dedicated to Ruby, although there must surely be a dedi...

Re: Ruby and the Duke,

I doubt that anyone is suggesting that the talents of Ray Martin or Norrie Paramour and least of all Ruby's performance can be "recreated" but this will get a new audience to appreciate her work and think of more than curry! Arranging the new orchestrations will be a challenge, but I can say that Du...
