The Whirligig website - Ruby's Hits for 1955

This has been mentioned once or twice here, and I am going to draw your attention to it again. The interest for Ruby Murray fans starts on the 50s music page here: http://p197.ezboard.com/fwhirligigtvfrm9.showMessage?topicID=984.topic/ . This is a discussion on the Definitive UK charts, based on the...

Just to agree with John on this one, you can't be too careful. However, a couple of years ago, Bernie kindly let me know where it is, and my wife and I were able to visit and take a short video. If you would like to have a look at this, you will find it in the Library under the section marked Video....

While every single new member is most welcome, I think a special mention is due to Teresa - Timmer's mum. There are lots of fans whose lives have been enriched by the work of Tim in setting up this website and I am sure I speak for all of them in saying a huge "Thank You" to him for doing so. As his...

Another failure :( Where's Gerald, our wizard of technology .... HELP! :? Just away for a few days on holiday! But John has revealed his mastery of technology, so we can rest assured that there is a back-up for when I go away for longer! (I think the problem was that the url that Brian gave include...

Thank you for the reminder, Chardonnay, no sooner said (and back home for a couple of days) than done! You will see from the date on the document that I did in fact prepare it some time ago, but forgot to post it in the Library. This link will take you straight to the revised document, which is in t...

Well done, Martin! If you hadn't been up so late last night, I would have got it. I woke up this morning with the words "five long years" ringing in my ears, and I was pretty sure it was Connemara, but thought I would just listen to it again this morning. Then I thought I had better just check to se...

Ruby waited 50 years with her Ma and Da and Uncle Bill living with her in "50 Years Ago". "...and they're living with us still" she complains. Would that be the one, Bernie? Regarding my gold star, the answer is "No, I didn't think the clue helped at all". But then, I would say that, wouldn't I? To ...

I don't suppose it is the obvious is it - "Softly, softly turn the key..."

If so, then we have all been a bit slow this time.

PS If it is right, then you owe me two gold stars, because I didn't get one for my last winner!

After all my failures, I think I might have finally got one. "How Did He Look?" in which Ruby sings "..and did he ask about me?" This is a really lovely song, beautifully arranged, which Ruby sings absolutely perfectly and with such feeling. And now we have it in stereo on the Golden Anniversary Col...

Thank you for that reminder John. Just in case Yours magazine has used this website for information, I have added a note to the Biography page covering your point about the Guiness Book of Records. As the biography page consist of quotes from other sources, I did not feel I could just change it. May...

Thank you for that, IrishInMe (sorry but I have no idea what your name is!) It does make you wonder what companies think they can add if they really are making CD copies from old records. I spent many happy hours doing the same thing for my own collection, but they have long since been abandoned now...

Thanks for that, Graham. Another CD mystery - why would EMI release their master tapes to another company to put out a CD in the same year as their two other releases, and using the same material? It's a nice collection, nevertheless, and the cover picture is certainly quite stunning and eye-catchin...

Hi Kerry, the problem is that we know of very little material featuring Ruby at the height of her popularity, even though she made plenty of TV appearances to promote her records. Shows like "Off The Record" and "Six-Five Special", plus many guest appearances on variety shows, all appear mentioned i...
