Best wishes from me too, John. As Ruby once sang 'GET WELL SOON'

Re: David Whitfield DVD

The release date of 24 May seems a long time to wait, but it will soon come round. Meanwhile here is a direct link to Play.com where you can pre-order the DVD - and also see the cover liner and the brief pre-release review which mentions Ruby and the Jones Boys. http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/142299...

Re: Ruby 75

Here is a photograph that Bernie has asked me to upload, showing the flowers he placed on Ruby's grave.

Re: Fifties Fotos

It was indeed 'In My Life' that I had in mind. Good on yer Graham. How about putting yourself forward to 'Mastermind' with Ruby Murray the specialist subject!

Re: Fifties Fotos

You can have a bonus point for 'Get Well Soon', Graham - because it wasn't the song I was thinking of. I'd quite forgotten about 'Get Well Soon', but there was a second song several years later that they both recorded and issued as a single. It wasn't a hit for either of them - in fact Ruby's at lea...

Fifties Fotos

Bernie has sent me a cutting to upload here. As the caption says, it was taken at an ABC studios session for 'The Jack Jackson Show'. Ruby and Dickie would have been singing their latest recordings, while Joan Savage (along with Glen Mason) was resident on the Show providing comedy links. I know Ber...

Re: When Ruby sang 'Never Never Land'

Not so much of the 'OLD' Lad, Bernie! At least I remember it was 'Lucky Star' we previously discussed - not 'Blue Star'

Re: Film of Ruby & Tommy Cooper in Gt.Yarmouth

I don't think all of that Anglia series 'The Way We Were' was networked. I'm certain in London we didn't see them all, but fortunately the Great Yarmouth edition was one that did get screened.

Re: When Ruby sang 'Never Never Land'

I must have missed it before, Martin - it was new to me, so sorry if I've repeated something that has been seen before. There's a lot to look back on now, so easy to miss earlier postings. It certainly is a very early photograph, so maybe it's worth bringing it to everyone's notice again. The song a...

Ruby on a concert bill in 1948

I have just come across this cutting on line, and thought I'd share it with you - as it's probably the earliest evidence I've seen of a concert appearance by Ruby. It's said to be at the Adelphi in Dundalk on 20 June 1948, when she would have been only 13 years old. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums...

When Ruby sang 'Never Never Land'

Every once in a while, a piece of sheet music turns up of a song which, although wasn't recorded by Ruby, claims to have been featured or broadcast by her - and in this case 'Featured on Television by Ruby Murray' . Does anyone remember seeing Ruby sing this little novelty song that was popular in t...

Ruby in Great Yarmouth

Here's the photograph that Bernie referred to in his message of 24.2.2010 of Ruby at a Charity fete in Great Yarmouth with Teddy Johnson and Stan Stennett. Another happy snap from Bernie's collection, and thanks for the interesting story about Stan's aeroplane. It was all happening in Great Yarmouth...

Malcolm Vaughan

Sad to report that Malcolm Vaughan died earlier this month. He had several huge hits around the same time as Ruby's(1955-1959) including 'Ev'ry Day Of My Life', 'St Teresa of the Roses', 'My Special Angel' and 'More Then Ever'. He was part of a comedy double act with partner, Kenneth Earle - and the...

Re: Film of Ruby & Tommy Cooper in Gt.Yarmouth

With reference to the opening comment in your message, Bernie, I didn't suggest that Anglia TV covered the event themselves back in the 1950s. If you read my first message again you'll see that I was referring to a programme titled 'The Way We Were' - which was a nostalgia series which used old foot...

Film of Ruby & Tommy Cooper in Gt.Yarmouth

I'm sure most of you will have seen the film clip of Ruby & Tommy Cooper fooling around on a roller skating rink at Great Yarmouth. It first came to my attention when it was used in a TV programme some years ago titled 'The Way We Were' (I think it was produced by Anglia TV). Some kind person has no...
