Just a short "thank you" for your kind words. It is fun to do the work, but it is also nice when others appreciate it.

I just realised that by labelling the last one so clearly with 2005, it meant that it it had really gone out of date now, so a change was probably a good idea.

Yet Another New CD

I have just spotted on the HMV website another new CD by Ruby - this one is innovatively called "Softly, Softly". It is on the XTRA label, due for release next month, and the track listing appears to be another re-arrangement of old favourites: 1. Softly Softly 2. What Could Be More Beautiful? 3. He...

Bernie, we all should add our thanks to you for YOUR tireless efforts this year. I am certain that however hard any of us might have tried to mark Ruby's Golden Year properly, it was the signature of "Bernie Burgess" on the bottom of each letter that had the desired effect. Speaking for myself, I wa...

So we are up to five then:

1. The Very First Christmas Of All
2. Christmastime In Ireland
3. Christmas in Killarney
4. Little Pine Tree
5. Silent Night

I can't think of any others, but if anyone spots even a casual reference, do let us know.

17th December 1996

Today is the 9th anniversary of Ruby's sad passing. I have been listening to CD1 of the Golden Anniversary Collection as my way of remembering this lovely singer.

Just to add to the above, you will find, Malcolm, that all but one of the songs from the LP Album "Endearing Young Charms" are to be found on the Golden Anniversary Collection. This is because they have not been available in good quality direct-from-the-masters on CD before. The missing one is "Let ...

Got it! "Oh I mind when I left her, for to cross o'er the sea, for to try and make a fortune, for Mary and me". It's from "Lovely Derry on the Banks of the Foyle" - a beautiful song, beautifully sung by Ruby, to an excellent arrangement. It is interesting that it is a song for a male singer, but no ...

The Whirligig website - Ruby's Hits for 1955

This has been mentioned once or twice here, and I am going to draw your attention to it again. The interest for Ruby Murray fans starts on the 50s music page here: http://p197.ezboard.com/fwhirligigtvfrm9.showMessage?topicID=984.topic/ . This is a discussion on the Definitive UK charts, based on the...
