Re: Teresa Hart - Timmer's mother

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Timmer's mother Teresa has sadly passed away. She was in a care home, and although Timmer had to travel from one side of the USA to the other to get there, he was able to visit her a short while ago and play her some Ruby Murray records, which he...

Re: Rubys Birthday

Remembering Ruby. She was once likened to Vera Lynn, who sadly died last year at the old age of 103. If only Ruby had had better health, she might have still been around. Her memories in the form of records, photographs and news cuttings still live on here on this tribute website.

Re: The Passing of Ruby's son Tim

It is indeed a sad posting about the loss of Tim. He together with Bernie and Julie have done so much to help keep alive the memories we all share of our Dear Ruby. Some years ago, when he was a singer, he prepared a tribute show to Ruby, and Bernie and I went to the first such show on the South Coa...

Re: Happy Christmas

Thank you for the good wishes. This is just to let you all know that the website has been given some action by Timmer just before Christmas. He told me he was going to do this so I decided to wait until all the work was finished before putting the Christmas Home Page back up, so as not to give him a...

Re: Guinness Book Of World Records

Thank you John, this is good news among all the bad news we have had for 2020. It is good to know that when I was 15, I chose to be a fan of someone whose world records would still be standing all these years later! What a grand achievement!

Re: Rubys Music on the Radio

Thank you for the information, Donald, I will give it a go - presumably during NZ daytime and evening hours which makes it a bit tricky for me!

PS - the last time I was in New Zealand, I visited the shores of Lake Taupo. Lovely drive to get to it and a lovely place.

Re: Wikipedia page for Ruby

Thank you Donald. I understand that as Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, it is necessary from time to time to keep an eye on it to make sure that errors don't get back in again - such as the now infamous one where someone wrote that Madonna beat her world record, when in fact Guinness Book of Recor...

Re: Purchase of signed photo or and Ruby Memorabilia

I have the same photograph!

It reminds me of the time back in 1954 when I was just 14 years old, I joined the Fan Club and they sent me this photograph. I remember changing the letters in my own handwriting so that the "r" and the "y" were the same as Ruby wrote! (Shakes his head in embarrassment!)

Re: Wikipedia page for Ruby

It was a while back when we discussed the idea of "Official" with Bernie. He rationally concluded that at the time there was no other tribute to Ruby than the one which you so very kindly and thoughtfully created back in 1999, so he gave it his blessing. I always think it looks rather good to see th...

Re: Wikipedia page for Ruby

Thank you Tim, yes as far as I can see they did. One thing that I remember putting in that is not there is a url link to the actual photograph of the three Guinness Book of Records Certificates so that the misleading reference to Madonna that appears elsewhere could hardly be missed. This has for so...

Re: Flowers for Rubys Grave

Hello Donald, our founder Timmer has already welcomed you to this forum, so let me add my welcome too. You will find here as a Ruby fan a treasure trove of information, documents, photographs, songs (some just extracts) and videos. Take your time and explore the Library and the other pages of this w...

Re: Guinness Book Of World Records

JK (John) has posted an update to the situation regarding Ruby and the Guinness Book of Records in another thread, so I have taken the opportunity to repost it here, so that it can be kept in context with all the other postings on this thread. As far as we are concerned, never mind Ed Sheeran and el...

Hello John, it is good to see you are still able to join us in posting a message - keep up the good work on your health! I am pleased you like the home page. I just wish I owned all the sapphires in the picture! But I don't mind lending them to Ruby. It is pleasing to know that my words on the Home ...

Re: 2020 - The Sapphire Anniversary Year

Hello Graham, it is good to hear from you and to know that you are still enjoying things on this website. I too wonder where the years have gone - I think we must be both celebrating a quite big birthday around this year.....I too was 14 when I first heard Ruby, and like thousands of other young men...

2020 - The Sapphire Anniversary Year

It is my understanding that the 65th Anniversary of something is recognised by Sapphire stones, which exhibit a gorgeous blue colour. So as this anniversary for the year of Ruby's triumph in March 1955 will be with us soon, I have updated the home page to include lots of sapphires. It also gives me ...
