Re: Ruby's grave

My very good friend - Keith Seely (the drummer) has very kindly offered to drive me all way to Torquay sometime between now and Christmas so that I can once again tidy Ruby's grave and place some red roses there. I am very fortunate to have such a kind friend, the return journey, in his car, is appr...

A Very Special Day

Today would have been a very important day in both Ruby's life and mine. . . It would have been our 60th Wedding Anniversary. . . We were married in church in Blackpool on August 23rd 1957. Ruby was superb and together with her renowned sense of humour it proved to be a magical day, one that I will ...

Re: MEETING WITH RUBY MURRAY

Thank you Fred for those kind words. RUBY -The Precious Gem - will never be forgotten. I think of her every single day of my life. There is an oil painting of her above my mantlepiece and she looks down smiling at me permanently. Don't forget to search around the website, there is a wealth of inform...

Re: MEETING WITH RUBY MURRAY

I hope that you can unearth the signed photo that you were given by Ruby. She always thought very highly of her fans and fully realised that without them buying her records and attending her theatre and cabaret engagements she would never have become the highly successful artiste that she undoubtled...

Re: MEETING WITH RUBY MURRAY

Welcome Fred to Ruby's website Thank you for the details of your meeting with Ruby, it must have been many years ago. I hope that you will explore the website and enjoy all the data it contains. I can recall an occasion when I drove Ruby from our home in Northampton to see a show at The Gaumont in S...

Re: Plaque Unveiling Confirmed

My continuing struggle with the Blue Circle people in Belfast still carries on, they still insist that funding for a Blue Plaque must be arranged by the Belfast City Council who in turn adopt the stance that they provided the funding for the Plaque at the Ulster Hall. My argument being that the Plaq...

Re: Memory Lane on Sunday with Ruby Murray!

I tuned in to bayfm this afternoon and Nick played Ruby's reording of 'True Love' and dedicated it to me. I was highly honoured and flattered by the gesture. Apparently he has another dedication on his programme on the 25th. so don't forget to tune in. I'm hoping that he means to feature another of ...

Re: Memory Lane on Sunday with Ruby Murray!

Fans/Friends.

I've just heared from Nick at bayfm radio that there will be a certain dedication during this Sunday's programme - June 11th. I am eager to tune in to find out exactly what this dedication refers to and whether another airing of Ruby's vocals will be featured. Listen in folks!

Re: The Humour Is on Me Now

In the hope of raising a smile . . . . Riley and Murphy had a confrontation and decided on a dual - pistols at 10 paces. MURPHY was a thin man and Riley was fat (Large). Riley said "look at the size of you campared to the size of me" and to make things even Murphy would have to stand twice as far aw...

Re: The Humour Is on Me Now

You are very adventurous Timmer. It really doesn't appeal to me. On reflection, back in history Sir Walter Raleigh SUPPOSEDLY brought potatoes back to England (he didn't really, somebody beat him to it) and we accepted digging these items out of the ground and eating them. I am now feverishly trying...

Re: The Humour Is on Me Now

I've just been chatting to a pal of mine, an Irish comedian called Dusty Young and he came out with a nice line which made me smile - "A Hypochondriac is someone who enjoys BAD health, - How irish is that?

Re: The Humour Is on Me Now

I assume that everyone is familiar with an Irish dish called 'Champ'. It's mashed potatoes with Spring Onions mixed in. Not so long ago it was some times made with Stinging Nettles in place of Scallions (Spring Onions) - doesnt bare thinking of does it??? There is an expression, rather an unkind one...

Re: The Humour Is on Me Now

Bravo Graham

Thank you for coming up with the answers. Very well done. I knew that a 'Lilter' was featured but I no longer have any of Ruby's L.P.s, I gave them to my daughter so that they can be kept in the family for safety.
