Re: 2020 - The Sapphire Anniversary Year

Hello Graham, it is good to hear from you and to know that you are still enjoying things on this website. I too wonder where the years have gone - I think we must be both celebrating a quite big birthday around this year.....I too was 14 when I first heard Ruby, and like thousands of other young men...

2020 - The Sapphire Anniversary Year

It is my understanding that the 65th Anniversary of something is recognised by Sapphire stones, which exhibit a gorgeous blue colour. So as this anniversary for the year of Ruby's triumph in March 1955 will be with us soon, I have updated the home page to include lots of sapphires. It also gives me ...

2019 and another year has passed!

After a few hectic weeks here at home, I have finally had a moment to bring back the Christmas Page with the five lovely Christmas songs recorded by Ruby - it is a pity they never play any of them in the shops! I was prompted to get it done by the realisation that tomorrow will be the anniversary of...

Re: Ruby and the Duke

I have been a bit busy recently and only just caught up with this thread. I also remember the film as having more music by Duke Special than by Ruby, but then I suppose he was in a privileged position because he was creating it. At least it gave some more publicity to Ruby especially in Northern Ire...

Wikipedia page for Ruby

I have finally got round to doing something I have been promising myself to do for a long time! I have made a number of edits to the Wikipedia page on Ruby. For example it used to read that "Ruby was born on the Donegall Road" so I have changed that to "near the Donegall Road". Other wrong informati...

Re: Ruby Murray C.D

Hello Lesley, I look after this website, and I have a couple of email addresses for Tim. They haven't been used for a few years, but I have copied your message to him just in case he is still using them. I will post again here if I get any sort of reply, but you may hear direct from him anyway at y...

The New Blue Plaque and the play Ruby!

On Friday 15th February 2019 I visited Belfast to represent the UK Ruby fans at these two special events. After years of pressure and effort by Bernie and Michael Cameron, the Ulster History Circle managed to secure funding from the Belfast City Council to erect a Blue Plaque in remembrance of the a...

Happy Christmas 2018!

Well, the snow Christmas Home Page is back, even if a little late this year, because it has become a tradition that I replace the one we have had all year with this one. You can no doubt tell from the design that it was one of the first I ever did, when Timmer very politely asked me if I would like ...

Re: Plaque Unveiling Confirmed

I am both pleased and surprised by this news! Most councils seem to be cutting back on essential things, let alone desirable things like a plaque to honour a well known citizen. I look forward with great interested to see when the date for unveiling will be, and if any kind of celebrity will be invo...

Re: Renewed Interest in Ruby

We now have some advertising material for the new play "Ruby!" by Michael Cameron. Michael has sent me an email containing the words and pictures he would like me to put on the internet. If you haven't looked in on the Home Page recently, go and have a look and follow the link under the NEWS! banner...
