Although I am sure Ruby loved her father like a good daughter, apart from "Dear Daddy" the words of most of her other love songs are more suited to a (potential) partner. So, I am wondering if it was one of the songs about a place in Ireland that held a bond between them? If so, I would need another...

Well spotted! I suppose we can't really expect there to be no problems when 100 songs are re-recorded. I have made a couple of checks just now, and it seems to me that the Golden Anniversary Collection is the same version, but as you point out, with the vocal backing very much in the background. I c...

Phew, glad that's over! Was I the cat or the mouse? Well, when I was working, I was known as Gerry, and when a friend introduced me to his five-year old daughter by that name, she asked "if you are Gerry, where is Tom?" So I guess that makes me the mouse - pass the cheese. I always liked Dickie Vale...

My set came from HMV on Tuesday 29th (most appropriate day, I thought) although I was away at the time. I agree with other comments that the presentation is rather good - lots of gold colouring, including the four disks, and Bernie's words nicely presented. I just thought the inside back picture was...

Re: Seville Recordings and my inabilty to login

John and Gerald, I still cannot login as it says that my login name or password is incorrect. Can I re-register? Or else I'll have to use Guest again? When I use my name to post a message it says 'sorry this user name has alrerady been taken'. Kerry Without other information, I have to ask if you a...

Thank you for that, Brian, there are lots of nice things said about Ruby on the Whirligig website. Readers may like to know that a couple of weeks ago, I tried to convince Terry Wogan that he might like to remember this special week in his morning programme. But it seems he preferred not to, since i...

Re: Ruby Murray / Complete Seville Recordings

Kerry Edwards PS I cannot seem to post usign my name although I registered??? I can't add anything to John's posting, but regarding your user name, it is just that...

Well, in spite of Bernie's statement, it seems that Amazon are still pressing on with this CD, and even have a cover picture showing a few of the titles of the 28 tracks it contains! Have a look, because it is a nice picture, even if the CD itself does not materialise.

The Golden Anniversary Week is Next Week

The main reason for suggesting to Timmer changing the Home Page, and then being allowed to do it, was to celebrate this year being the 50 year anniversary for Ruby's record achievement, which as most will know took place the week ending the 18th March. By a remarkable coincidence, next week also end...

Just to let you know that HMV are now giving the track listing on their website, and it confirms the one above which John has given us. As Graham says, hopefully there is something for everyone, while trying to keep to getting all of Ruby's songs onto CD. This means that if you purchase all of the f...

CD called "It's The Irish In Me"

I have just noticed that Amazon are announcing that this CD is from EMI - very interesting, considering that the song with the same title is supposed to be on the 4CD boxed set! The mystery deepens.....

:) Gerald, will any live recording be on the CD. I don't have any, although I know she did "Let Him Go Let Him Terry". :?: :D As I said elsewhere, we don't actually know the final listing yet, so I don't want to build up anybody's hopes, and I certainly do not want to put any pressure on EMI now th...

Re: Yet Another New C.D

Gerald, I was hoping that perhaps E.M.I would be releasing the tracks from Rubys L.P "Endearing Young Charms",although several of the songs have appeared on different C.Ds it has never been released in it's entirety. They may also inlude some of the live performances from the "St Patricks Night" LP...
