Hi Graham, Thanks for the info on 'Christmas in Killarney'. The song is probably older than I thought.
I still have the Four Ramblers version (on 78) and it is very similar to Ruby's version but sung in barber quartet style with close harmonies.
As to other Ruby songs recorded by other artistes - I have a record of Connie Francis singing ' Happy Days and lonely nights'
in country style, much slower and more plaintive than Ruby's version which is in strict tempo - ballroom quickstep style. The Connie Francis version was issued some 3 years after Ruby's original hit record, but of course I still prefer the original.
