A Momentous Year

Hello Friends
2005 has been a very momentous year that has seen many exciting things happen and I would like to send my sincere thanks to everyone connected to the Ruby Murray website.
Things I am grateful for:
(A) I managed to finish my book and, with a little luck, I will be able to arrange a SELF publishing deal in the next two months which should see the project completed.
(B) I managed to get E.M.I. to agree to release, first of all a 3 C.D. set, then, with a little gentle persuasion from Gerald and Brian, I twisted the arm of Stephen Woof at E.M.I. and got him to agree to making it a 4C.D. boxed set. I was even more delighted when he agreed to add GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION to the title. Gerald and Brian then did sterling work putting together a complete list of tracks and again I was able to suggest to E.M.I. that the list compiled by Gerald and Brian should be agreed by them. Now, happily it is up and running. If we could have got some 'airplay' on radio, to let the public know that there is such a release available for purchasing, we would see sales increase.
(C) Belfast City Council did at last make arrangements for a special plaque to be made and for the site to be the facia of The Ulster Hall in City Centre Belfast. The original 'Blue' plaque, which is the normal one that is used in Belfast, had to be rejected, due to the fact that they only install such a plaque when the recipient has been dead for twenty years, a somewhat odd arrangement. The Council then agreed to provide funds to have a special plaque designed and manufactured, which would be the Council's own special tribute, and at my suggestion they are going to erect it on the building where Ruby made several appearances when she was still a child performer. The actual unveiling should take place on Ruby's birthdate. March 29th. 2006.
(D) I laid the foundation for Tim's 'Tribute to Ruby Murray' stage show to be launched in the New Year. Tim is currently enagaged in putting it all together and with luck it should be carrying out enagements next year. All in all a very gratifying year indeed.
I'd like to add that it has been a great delight for me to be associated with the website and a pleasure to be exchanging thoughts and other data with the numerous fans/friends whom it has been exciting to get to know during this thrilling year.
A closing thought about Gerald. He worked feverishly to actually physically produce a complete set of Ruby recordings on C.D. for his own personal use. I must tell you that his work on them turned out to be a work of art, they really were terrific. I was then guilty of making them all redundant when I arranged the E.M.I. release. -sorry Gerald. I do know that he was as delighted about The Golden Anniversary Collection as we all were, despite the loss of his tireless work.
Wishing everyone a Very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year.
