Bernie's Christmas Cake Recipe

Post by Bernie Burgess »

Hello Friends,
Following on from Brian's information on Christmas Cake. I have an excellent recipe which would compare quite favourably with Miss O'Leary's Irish fruit cake and which might be of interest to Christmas Cake lovers.

Ingredients.

I cup of water,
I tablespoon of salt,
I teaspoon of baking soda,
I bottle of whisky,
2 cups of dried fruit,
8 ozs nuts,
Lemon juice,
I cup of sugar,
4 large eggs,
8ozs butter,

Method.

Sample the whisky to check for quality,
Take a large bowl, - check the whisky AGAIN. To be sure that it's of the highest quality pour out one level cup full and drink.

Repeat the previous task.

Turn on the electric mixer, beat 2 oz of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one tsp of sugar and beat again. Make quite sure that the whisky is still okay.- cry another tup. Turn off the mixerer. Break two bowls and add the eggs and chuck in the dried fruit. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the turnerers, pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the whisky again to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift the two sups of calt - or something - who cares, you had better check the whisky again. Now sift the lemon juice and strain the nuts

Add one table - SSpoon of sugar - or something, whatever you can find.
Grease the oven, Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Now throw the bowl out of the window, check the whisky and go to bed. Next day take 3 aspirins and go to Marks & Spencers and
buy a Chrstmas cake.

P.S. Could someone tell the cat to quit stomping around of the carpet?

Happy New Year.

Adios Amigos. Father Christmas (Bernie)
