Teddy Johnson and Pearl Carr

Post by 1952mgyb »

I came across an article a while back about Teddy Johnson and Pearl Carr whom I recall from childhood memories in the late 50s/early 60s and wondered did Bernie and Ruby ever meet them. Both Teddy and Pearl are still with us being 95 and 92 having been married since 1955.

I was thrilled to see a new photo of Ruby, with a different hair style too. Thanks a million for alerting us about it. I tried to print off the photo and couldn't. I'm hoping to be able to get around to the task of sorting out all the unseen photos but sifting through to make sure that there are no duplicates already on the website is a very long undertaking but I will do it.

If you put Ruby Murray into the 'search' box on the site there are dozens of photos of her. Presumably we have them?

When you click on the link to the photograph it shows the picture you have seen - if you look above picture there is a rectangular box you can enter names in. Just put the name in there e.g. Ruby Murray etc. Hope that helps.

Whilst you are on the internet you might like to see this clip from 1960 which shows Ruby briefly at the premier of a Charlie Drake film.

Also if you scroll down this site there's a photo of you.

I've looked at the many photos that are on show in the 'link' and I'm pretty sure that only one of those photos is on the website - the one where Ruby is dancing with Ronnie Carroll. Seeing as they are copyrighted we are 'stumped' which is shame because there are some nice shots of Ruby. - Would it be possible to buy copies?

contact@vam.ac.uk

If you contact the V&A they can let you know about using the photos. See e mail address above.

Also there's nothing to stop the links to each photo being put on this site along with a brief description of who's in them if for some reason they wont let you use the actual photos. I wonder how they got the photos as they may well be already in the public domain so ask them.

Did you like the other links I posted or have you already seen the footage from British Pathe.

I was hooked this morning reading a few of the many interesting pages of information on pantomimes and the stars that appeared in them, over a period of many many years. I have been trying to find out who it was that compiled the masses of data. I saw that Java Scripts were involved but who was the individual who compiled and wrote the data? It was positively enthrauling to me being the old 'Pro' that I am. All my morning chores have gone by the board, I haven't even stopped for a morning coffee, or tea.

All the stuff on the Java Script site is free to reproduce etc. For answers to who compiled it go to:

http://www.javascriptsource.com/faq/index.html

Might be a bit technical but try asking this(Ruby Murray) sites compiler if he can help with identifying who compiled the Java stuff and how it was put together.

Glad you are enjoying the nostalgia.
