Hello Friends.

I am posting this message from Geneva where I shall be staying until August 24th. when I return to Spain.

I have not been able to keep in touch with everything because of travelling around, however I hope to catch up soon. Replying to a part of Graham's posting in connection with other versions of songs recorded by Ruby. I think that I am correct in stating that Ken Dodd was on the Decca
label when he recorded 'Pianissimo' and what a great performance he gave on it. I still think that Columbia should have seccured that song for Ruby,- i.e Pianissimo is 'Softly'. As far a I am concerned thay were very slow off the mark.

You are right Ken Dodd did record Pianissimo upon the Decca Label in 1962.....He did then change to Columbia records in the same year.

Talking about Decca recordings,Ruby had a long recording contract with Columbia,then went on to make several recordings for the Fontana label and President records.

I have always thought it strange that Ruby only ever made one record for Decca this being a Christmas record then no more releases.....Could she have had a contract for just one record? or do you think that perhaps Decca have unreleased material.

Ruby was invited by Decca especially to cut one Christmas record. From memory The Little Pine Tree came into it.

I am still in Geneva but I will contact you on the subject when I return home to Albir - Spain.
