The Old Pig-Sty

Post by Timmer »

I was wondering if anyone has information on this song, one of the favorites from my youth. Is it a traditional song, or something more modern? Information about the origins of the song would be interesting, I bet.

Also, I'm not 100% sure about the lyrics. Does anyone know the word I couldn't identify? (And check the lyrics for overall correctness?)

Thanks! :D

This song was written by Eilish Boland......She was born in Doonaree on the 10/8/1917 and died on the 7/2/1970

She also wrote the song Doonaree a lovely song that was also recorded by Ruby

Hi Timmer,
There is another version of this song by another Irish singer Maisie McDaniel and you will hear that you have got the word right as she also sings JOY
Hope this has been helpful
