Hello Friends,

I have just received the following message from a couple of 'Ex Pats' who are living 'down under'. They are newly registered and I am hoping that they will stay around and explore the website. I have sent them a personaL REPLY Please give them a warm welcome.

Here is their message: -
Hi Bernie,
We live in Sydney, Australia but we were both born in Bradford,Yorkshire. My
partner tells me that she attended a Ruby Murray concert at a theatre in
Bradford. She can't tell me when this was but is adamant that it happened.
Could you please tell me if Ruby Murray did ever appear at a theatre in
Bradford and if so, the name of that theatre. I'm sorry to trouble you but we
registered on the website and I looked everywhere for an address to send my
question but couldn't find one, so I looked in the members list and just
happened to click on your name. My nsme is Ken and my partner is registered
simply as Marg. We would appreciate any help you can give
us.

Cheers. Ken

It is always great to see new members registering here, so a big welcome from me too. I do hope you like the many things you find here, and as Martin has said, do please let us know how you came to be Ruby fans and any personal stories you have to tell us regarding this lovely singer.
You have many hours of searching through the library ahead of you!

Message for Ken and Marg,

I think this may help solve your querie about Marg's visit to a theatre in Bradford to see Ruby.

In the book that I wrote about Ruby's life and career I asked Val Doonican to write a 'Forward' for me. Here is a paragraph from his 'Forward'.

"It was back in the early 50s, while touring the British Music Halls circuit as a member of an Irish vocal quartet that I first met Ruby Murray. She was, at that time, a hugely successful recording star topping the bill at major theatres week after week. If my memory serves me right, that first meeting was at The Alhambra Theatre in Bradford when her supporting artistes included comedian Jimmy Wheeler, trumpet player Eddie Calvert and ourselves The Four Ramblers".

Perhaps this is the bill that Marg saw, it must have been around 1955 or 56. Hope this is of help to you.

Kindest regards. Bernie.

Hello Friends,

This morning I received the following message from 'Marg',

"Thanks a lot for the information as you know when you are trying to remember things from the past the memory gets a bit cloudy . Mine has cleared up nicely now thanks to you .Best wishes Margaret @ hotmail "

I'm pleased to have been of service Marg. I do hope that you, or Ken, will post a message and let us hear more about you and where you live. We have some Australian friends amongst us so maybe you can contact each other.

Adios Amigos. Bernie.
