Please does anyone know if Ruby ever sang a song called "Remember Your Mother" or perhaps a song with that line in it as I can't find a title song of that name.
Many thanks - johnsheff1

Hello and welcome Johnsheff1 (is there a clue there somewhere?)
There isn't a song with that title, but I wonder if you are thinking of "Goodbye Johnny". This has the lines:

Goodbye Johnny dear, when you're far away,
Don't forget your dear old mother far across the sea.
Just write a letter now and then, and send her all you can,
And don't forget where'er you roam that you're an Irish man.

This is a beautiful song that is on the LP "The Spinning Wheel" but is not currently available on CD.

Sounds good to me Gerald.

John, if it was definitely an Irish lady who sag this song, perhaps you could also try Bridie Gallagher, "The girl from Donegal". She was one of Ruby's contemporaries and sang a lot of sad Irish songs about emigration and poor old Irish mothers. Her recordings are readily available on ebay and amazon etc.

Best wishes.
