With the release of "Anthology" I found that my Ruby record collection was complete,so I decided that I would start collecting the items which had been put out on sheet music.

With the help of a very good friend I have now got several items and what has suprised me is that on many of the early songs they all contain a verse before going into the main refrain.

These verses Ruby never sang and I wondered why.

The only explanation that I can think of is I believe in the Fifties recordings could only run for a certain time and perhaps if the verse was recorded it would have taken them over the time limit.

If anyone does have an answer please let me know.

Best Wishes

Hello Graham,

Your assumption is almost correct. From a broadcasting point of view, a record usually had to be kept short because of taking up too much programme time, which obvious is very precious and much in demand. As a result, every second counted, I say that in the past tense because things have altered so much since those days.

How are you getting on with the latest teaser?

Adios Amigo. Bernie.
